Cartersville, Woodland volleyball teams advance to state playoffs

Cartersville and Woodland volleyball advanced to the GHSA Class 5A state tournament with wins on Saturday at the Region 7-5A tournament.
Cartersville stretched top-seeded Dalton in the finals but finished as region runner-up.

Woodland went 1-1 on Saturday with a win over Hiram and a loss to Calhoun but will advance to the state playoffs as the region’s No. 4 seed.
Cartersville defeated Calhoun 25-23, 25-17 to reach the finals. The Canes then defeated Dalton 25-19, 26-24 to set up a finals rematch with the Catamounts.
Dalton won the title match 25-10, 25-22.
State tournament pairings will be released by GHSA on Monday.
