Cass, Adairsville add softball wins on Monday

Following a tough tournament weekend where they dropped two of three games, the Cass Lady Colonels bounced back Monday with a 10-2 win in five innings at home over the Wheeler Wildcats.
Lily Powell pitched all five innings for Cass, allowing two runs (one earned) on one hit and four walks. The hurler fanned ten of 21 batters faced.
Cass scored four runs in the bottom of the second, added one in the third, and closed out the victory with five runs in the fourth inning. The Lady Colonels totaled fourteen hits.
Kylie Gentry (two RBI), KK Evans (triple, two RBI), MJ McFarlane, Harlee Thomason (double), and Shyia Woods (double) had two hits. Rilyn Caspari (two RBI), Natalie Hughes, Molli Morrow, and Bailey York added one hit.
The loss dropped Wheeler to 0-2 on the season.
Cass (3-3, 1-1) hosts Southeast Whitfield on Tuesday in a Region 7-4A contest at 5:30 p.m.
ADAIRSVILLE 8, NORTHWEST WHITFIELD 4
The Lady Tigers opened their 2025 Region 7-AAA schedule Monday with an 8-4 home win over Northwest Whitfield.
Ashlyn Carlton went the distance in the circle to collect the pitching win. She allowed four runs (one earned) on five hits and one walk while striking out seven.
Adairsville led 3-2 after one inning, and the visiting Bruins tied the score at 3-all in the top of the third inning. The Lady Tigers responded with three runs in the bottom of the third and added two more in the fifth to help secure the win.
Adairsville out-hit Northwest fifteen to five.
Ansley Powell (two doubles, RBI) and Alivia Joslin had three hits to help lead the Tigers’ offense. Carlton (two RBI), Maddie Baggett (double, two RBI), and Chloe Hill (two doubles, RBI) had two hits. Ashlynn Durden (double, RBI), Katie Anglian (RBI), and Lily Roberts added one hit.
Northwest Whitfield slipped to 0-3 overall and 0-1 in Region 7-4A.
Adairsville (3-1, 1-0) hosts Calhoun on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. and visits Calhoun on Thursday at 5:55 p.m.
