Cass boys fall to Creekview in season opener

The Cass High School boys’ basketball team opened the 2022-23 season Tuesday night with a 59-54 home loss to the Creekview Grizzlies.
The Colonels played the game without seven players on the roster who are still involved with the football team in the playoffs or are missing due to injury.
Creekview led 18-15 after one quarter and held a 31-26 advantage at the intermission. The Grizzlies extended their lead to 48-41 in the third quarter and held of the Colonels late for a five-point win.
Luke Godwill led Creekview (1-0) with 18 points. Luke Jack followed with 17 and Nolan Tricker also reached double figures with 10 points for the visitors.
Jayden Foster paced the Colonels with 23 points. He scored 19 in the second half.
K.J. Rogers scored 16 points for Cass — all in the first half. Isaiah Ford followed with six; D.J. Sams chipped in three; Jakai Baldwin and Tom Brannon added two apiece.
Cass (0-1) will return to action against Midtown High School Saturday at 5 p.m. at Roswell High School.
