Cass, Cartersville, and Adairsville collect Tuesday softball wins

The Cass Lady Colonels scored ten runs over the final two innings Tuesday in an 11-2 region win at Woodland.


The game was tied 1-1 through four innings before the Colonels struck for five runs in both the fifth and sixth innings to close out the win.


Kylie Gentry (6 IP, 2ER, 7H, 3BB, 4K) was the winning pitcher for Cass. Evelyne Tucker (5.2 IP, 11R, 5ER, 9H, 5BB, 3K) made the start for the Lady Cats and was tagged with the pitching loss. Bella Kuykendall (0.1 IP) also pitched for Woodland.


Ashlyn Baines had two hits at the top of the Woodland batting order. Kamryn Smith (double), Kylee Poston, and Sonny Hicks had the other Lady Cats’ hits. Addy Bassett drove in a Woodland run with a sacrifice fly.


Natalie Hughes (RBI), MJ McFarlane (RBI), and Harlee Thomason had two hits for the Lady Colonels. Bailey York (three RBI), Shyia Woods (two RBI), KK Evans (two RBI), and Gentry added one hit.


Woodland (2-5, 1-3) visits Darlington on Wednesday at 5 p.m. and hosts Cedartown on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.


Cass (7-4, 5-2) hosts Cartersville on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.



CARTERSVILLE 8, DALTON 0


Presley Crabbe tossed a five-inning, no-hitter and struck out ten on Tuesday as the Lady Canes blanked visiting Dalton 8-0. Crabbe needed only 77 pitches and faced only two over the minimum with two walks.


Kinsey Woodard had three hits for Cartersville and had two RBI. Sam Porter followed with two hits. Sophia Harper (two RBI), LaKiaya Banks (double, RBI), Sam Evans (double, RBI), and Miley Jo Williams added one hit.


Dalton remained winless at 0-7 overall and 0-5 in Region 7-4A.


Cartersville (11-1, 5-1) plays at Cass on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.



ADAIRSVILLE 4, RIDGELAND 0


Lady Tigers’ pitcher Ashlyn Carlton struck out seven and tossed a complete-game four-hit shutout as Adairsville won 4-0 at Ridgeland on Tuesday.


The Tigers scored one run in the top of the first inning and added three in the third. 


Alivia Joslin had two hits for Adairsville. Carlton (double, two RBI), Ashlynn Durden (sac fly, RBI), Maddie Baggett, and Ansley Powell added one hit.


The loss evened Ridgeland’s record to 4-4 overall and 3-3 in Region 7-3A.


Adairsville (6-4, 2-3) hosts Ridgeland on Thursday at 5:55 p.m.
