Cass girls improve to 5-1 with win at Alexander; Lady Cats fall at Pepperell


In a trip to Douglasville Friday night, the Class 5A ninth-ranked Cass girls outdistanced host Alexander 20-4 in the third quarter to break open a close game and eventually pull away for a 64-35 win over the Lady Cougars.

Miya Winston led the Lady Colonels with 20 points. Keara McDaniel scored nine. Claire Davis pumped in eight points while Mikaela Jackson and Amaya Ford contributed six each.

Katlin Gould was the high scorer for Alexander (1-5) with 10 points.


Cass (5-1) travels to Conyers to take on Heritage Tuesday night.


PEPPERELL 53, WOODLAND GIRLS 38


Gabi Smith scored 16 points and Aysia Day added 12 as the Pepperell Lady Dragons defeated visiting Woodland Friday night in Lindale.


Woodland trailed 10-7 after one quarter, but grabbed a 24-19 advantage heading into halftime. Pepperell regained the lead 34-32 by the end of the third period and pulled away down the stretch for a 15-point non-region win.


Abigail Taylor led the Lady Cats with 16 points. Morgan Echols and Dylynn Motes scored seven each for Woodland.


The Lady Cats (0-5) host Bremen Saturday in an 11:30 a.m. start.
