Cass, Lee blank Cartersville; Woodland, Baker take down Titans

Rachael Lee tossed a three hit shutout Tuesday night to blank Cartersville, 3-0.

Cass pitcher Rachael Lee threw a complete game, three-hitter and shutout Cartersville Tuesday as the Lady Colonels blanked the Lady Canes, 3-0.

Lee walked one and recorded three strikeouts.

All three Cass runs were scored in the bottom of the sixth. Reese Howard drove in two runs with a single and Kelly Young singled to drive in Howard.

Alexis Woods and Young had two hits each for Cass. Haylee Dishmon, Saydee Najarro, Darianna Sosa, and Howard added the other Colonels’ base hits.

McKinley Chada (6 IP, 3R, 0ER, 8H, 1BB) was tagged with the pitching loss for Cartersville.

Campbell Rogers (double), Kiley Arnold, and Amelia Elrod had one hit each for the Hurricanes.

Cartersville (9-10, 5-6) plays at North Cobb Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. and then returns to Region 7-AAAAA action Thursday with a doubleheader at Blessed Trinity.

Cass (8-7, 5-5) plays a region doubleheader at Calhoun Thursday starting at 5 p.m.


WOODLAND 5, BLESSED TRINITY 1


Lainey Baker struck out 13 Tuesday night in a 5-1 win over Blessed Trinity.

Woodland pitcher Lainey Baker struck out 13 and scattered five hits as the Lady Cats beat visiting Blessed Trinity Tuesday night, 5-1.

Woodland scored three runs in the third inning and added a pair of insurance runs in the fourth to build a 5-0 lead. The Titans’ lone run crossed in the sixth inning on back-to-back singles and a sacrifice fly.

Michiah Hicks paced the Wildcats’ offense with three hits and one RBI. Baker had two hits and one RBI. Cassie Jones also finished with two hits.

Dylynn Motes hit a two-run home run as part of the Lady Cats’ three-run third inning. Jessica Ryan, Alana Carnes, and Peyton Dorn added one hit each.

With the loss, Blessed Trinity slips to 7-5 overall and 5-2 in Region 7-AAAAA.

Woodland (8-10-2, 5-5) hosts a region doubleheader with Hiram Thursday at 5 p.m.


COAHULLA CREEK 11, ADAIRSVILLE 1

Coahulla Creek led 5-0 after one inning and added six more runs in the fourth to defeat Adairsville, 11-1.

McKenzie Pullum had a double for the Lady Tigers. Alissa Winters and Taylor Evans added one hit apiece.

Coahulla Creek improved to 6-8 overall and 6-6 in Region 6-AAA.

Adairsville (5-11, 3-7) hosts Rockmart Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
