Cass softball wins two of three at Gordon Lee Invitational

The Cass Lady Colonels won two of three games played Friday and Saturday at the Gordon Lee Score International Invitational in Chattanooga. Cass blanked Ringgold 8-0, outlasted Coahulla Creek 15-11, and lost to Gordon Lee 11-8.

Kylie Gentry struck out five and tossed a five-inning one-hit shutout on Friday to beat Ringgold. Abagail Nails (3 IP, 2ER, 1H, 9BB, 4K) and Lily Powell (2 IP, 9R, 2ER, 4H, 3BB, 1K) shared the pitching duties in the Lady Colonels’ win over Coahulla Creek, and Gentry (4 IP, 11R, 3ER, 10H, 1BB, 1K) was the pitcher of record in the loss to Gordon Lee.

Nails (two triples, four RBI), Shyia Woods (two doubles, four RBI), and Lindsey Chubb (two RBI) led the Colonels’ offense with four hits each during the three games of the tournament. Gentry contributed three hits, including two doubles and six RBI. Kharmyn Collum (two RBI) and Maci Walker (five RBI) also had three hits.

Cass (10-6, 7-4 Region 7-5A) plays at Cartersville on Tuesday at 5:55 p.m.
