Cass sweeps six-team meet at Darlington


The Cass girls and boys track and field teams swept to a pair of victories Thursday night at a six-team meet at Darlington in Rome.

The Cass girls scored 154.5 points to finish ahead of second place Pepperell (148.5). Darlington (138), Model (50), Dade County (32), and Mount Paran Christian (19) rounded out the scoring.

The Cass boys finished with 176.5 points to defeat runner-up Darlington (166). Pepperell (141.5) was third with Dade County (66), Model (13), and Mount Paran Christian (3) completing the scoring.

Of the 34 events contested, the Cass boys won seven and the girls had five winners.

Cass has a home tri-meet scheduled for Monday at 4:30 p.m. with Adairsville and Southeast Whitfield. The Colonels will then travel to Southeast Whitfield Saturday for the Raiders’ Invitational.
