Chargers close out road slate with a win at South Georgia State

The Georgia Highlands baseball team trailed 1-0 through two innings at South Georgia State College on Tuesday but powered past the Hawks for a 6-1 conference road win.
The Chargers posted two runs in the third, one in the fifth, two in the seventh, and one more in the ninth inning for good measure.
GHC pitcher Chandler Anderson improved to 8-0 on the season with a four-inning start backed up by five other hurlers out of the bullpen. Anderson allowed one earned run on two hits and two walks. He struck out three.
Logan Spivey (2K), Hunter Ward (2K), Max Eichenberger, Oliver Wood (1K), and Reece Robertson worked one scoreless inning each for the Chargers.
Ryan Wideman had four hits including two doubles, a triple, and one RBI to lead the offense. Barrett Eldridge doubled, homered, and had three RBIs. Clay Wiesen (RBI) and Ali Banks added one hit.
South Georgia (28-26, 11-13) is currently in third place behind the Chargers and Gordon State in the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association standings with one game remaining.
Georgia Highlands (47-7, 19-5) wraps up regular season play at home on Thursday against Andrew College at 4 p.m.
The Chargers will host the GCAA double-elimination tournament next Monday through Thursday on the Cartersville campus.
