Chargers dominate USC-Salkehatchee in four-game series

The Georgia Highlands Chargers completed a four-game sweep of USC Salkehatchie on Sunday with a pair of 10-0 wins. The Chargers’ two wins on Saturday over the Indians were 11-2 and 6-2.
Trip Dovale picked up his fifth pitching win for GHC on Saturday. Declan Dun closed out the seventh inning in the opener.
Michael Sharman (3-1) (6.1 IP, 2ER, 4H, 0BB, 9K) worked into the seventh inning in Saturday’s second game. Hunter Ward (0.2 IP, 1K) finished the final two outs.
Chandler Anderson (5 IP, 0R, 2H, 0BB, 5K) blanked the Indians in the first game on Sunday.
Pitchers Oliver Wood (5 IP, 0R, 5H, 0BB, 4K) and Landen Loyd (1 IP, 0R, 1K) combined to shut out USC-S in the final game of the series.
The NJCAA 9th-ranked Chargers outscored the Indians 37-4 in the four-game series and outhit USC-S 49-16.
Luke Orfi (two doubles, two RBIs) and Ali Banks (double, three RBIs) led the Chargers’ offense with eight hits in the series. Ryan Wideman had seven hits, including two home runs, three doubles, and six RBIs. Barrett Eldridge (four home runs, double, 12 RBIs) and Grayson Godbee (two doubles, sac fly, three RBIs) contributed six hits. Clay Wiesen (double, RBI) and Will Cawthon (RBI) added four hits in the series and Trevor Lovett (double) finished with three.
The four losses dropped USC-Salkehatchee to 2-16 on the season.
Georgia Highlands (22-2) hosts Cleveland State CC on Tuesday at 3 p.m. and has a four-game series with USC Lancaster on Saturday and Sunday.
