Chargers extend streak to seven with doubleheader sweep of USC Salkehatchie

The Georgia Highlands Chargers baseball team swept a home doubleheader with USC Salkehatchie on Monday, winning 14-1 and 19-5 at Cdr. Robert Bentley USN (Ret) Baseball Field.
The Chargers scored ten runs in the second inning of the opener and outhit the Indians eleven to four. Alex Karst and Wyatt Gatlin homered for GHC. Carson Page and Andrew Bishop each had two hits.
Braxton Wade collected the Game 1 pitching win for Georgia Highlands. He allowed just one earned run on three hits and one walk in four innings. Wade fanned three.
In Game 2, the Chargers exploded for eight runs in the bottom of the first and cruised to their seventh-straight win. They out-hit the Indians 16 to 2.
Four pitchers worked short stints for Georgia Highlands, including Karst, Dozier Swain, Reed Thursby, and Calvin Koo.
Gatlin had three hits and three RBI to lead the Chargers’ bats. Five others had two hits, including Harper Davenport (three RBI), Caden Marcos (two RBI), Bishop (two RBI), Hayden Miller (RBI), and Aidan Larkin (RBI).
The two losses dropped the Indians to 2-13 on the season.
Georgia Highlands (14-4) welcomes Wabash Valley College (IL), Macomb CC (MI), and Catawba Valley CC (SC) for the Chargers Invitational on Friday through Sunday.
