Chargers hit eight homers in sweep of Pellissippi State

Georgia Highlands College baseball swept a home doubleheader on Tuesday with Pellissippi State CC (TN), winning 11-6 and 13-11.
The two teams traded leads in the opening game before the Chargers took control with a six-run fifth inning. In the second game, GHC built a 10-3 advantage through five innings and then held off the Panthers late.
Braxton Wade (4.1 IP, 6R, 4ER, 7H, 0BB, 5K) collected the pitching win for GHC in the opener. Jackson Scali (0.2 IP, 0R, 1H, 1K) and Jack Burns (2 IP, 0R, 1H, 0BB, 4K) closed out the final 2-⅔ innings.
The Chargers utilized six pitchers in the second game. Alex Karst (2 IP, 0R, 1BB, 4K), Reed Thursby (2 IP, 3R, 0ER, 4H, 0BB, 5K), Heath Whitlock (1 IP, 0R, 0H, 0BB, 2K), Nick Kane (0.1 IP, 5ER, 4H, 0BB, 1K), Ian Mihalopolous (0.0 IP, 2ER, 1H), and Sam Clower (1.2 IP, 1ER, 1H, 2K) all took the mound in Game 2.
The Chargers produced 25 hits in the doubleheader, including eight homers and 13 extra-base hits.
Caden Marcos (two home runs, double, five RBI), Mason Moore (home run, triple, four RBI), and Carson Page (two home runs, double, three RBI) led the Chargers with four hits each.
Kenton Collier (home run, double, four RBI), Aidan Larkin (home run, RBI), Andrew Bishop (home run, two RBI), Wyatt Gatlin (RBI), Harper Davenport (double, RBI), and Hayden Miller (RBI) each had two hits.
Pellissippi State fell to 6-9 with the two losses.
Georgia Highlands (18-6) welcomes Chattahoochee Valley CC (AL) for a three-game series on Friday and Saturday. Friday’s game starts at 3 p.m. Saturday’s doubleheader is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start.
GHC begins Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association conference action on Tuesday, hosting South Georgia State College at 3 p.m.
