Chargers hold off Tigers for first win in series

In the first game of a four-game conference series this week, Georgia Highlands College baseball defeated the Andrew College Tigers 10-8 Tuesday night in Cuthbert.
The next three games of the series will be hosted by Georgia Highlands with a single game Friday and a doubleheader on Saturday.
Tuesday, Jay Murdock hit a three-run home run in the top of the first inning as the Chargers scored four runs and grabbed an early lead.
In the fifth, GHC added three more runs to increase their lead to 8-2 and added two more in the sixth inning to make the score 10-3. The Chargers then held off the Tigers down the stretch for their two-run win.
Declan Dun (4.2 IP, 3ER, 8H, 2BB, 4K) made the pitching start for Georgia Highlands and was credited with the win. Five other pitchers — Trippe Moore (1 IP, 4ER, 5H), Cason Rich (1 IP, 1R, 0ER, 2K), Garrett Sagro (0.1 IP, 1K), Skyler Thellman (1 IP, 0R, 0H, 1K), and Chandler Anderson (1 IP, 0R, 0H, 1K) all worked in relief. Anderson was credited with a save.
Murdock was one of five Chargers to produce two hits. He finished with four RBIs.
Mitchell Walker, Ryan Wideman, Adam Love (RBI), and CJ Blackwell (two RBIs) also had two hits each. Hudson Sapp added one hit and one RBI in the victory.
Georgia Highlands (28-17, 8-9 GCAA) hosts Andrew College (24-17, 5-12) Friday night at 5 p.m. and Saturday in a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.
