Chargers sweep ABAC to extend win streak

The Georgia Highlands Chargers completed a doubleheader conference sweep of Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College Tuesday evening at LakePoint winning 7-2 in the opener and 6-2 in the second game of the twin bill.
GEORGIA HIGHLANDS 7, ABAC 2
A three-run third inning gave Georgia Highlands a 4-2 lead and the Chargers added on late runs for a 7-2 conference win in the opener.
Conner Perry (6.2 IP, 2ER, 7H, 1BB, 5K) pitched into the seventh inning to earn the win. Garrett Sagro (2.1 IP, 0R, 0H, 1BB, 2K) closed out the contest for the Chargers.
Brandon Prince had three hits including a pair of doubles at the plate for GHC. Connor Todaro also had three hits and one double. Joe Sutton finished with a double and three RBIs. Mick Moody, Palmer Sapp, and David Smith (double) all had one hit and one RBI each. Trace Twardoski (double) and Trenton Parker added one hit apiece.
GEORGIA HIGHLANDS 6, ABAC 2
In the second game, Joe Sutton and Trace Twardoski homered while Chase Townsend scattered six hits and struck out six as the Chargers completed the doubleheader sweep, 6-2.
The sweep also extended the current Chargers’ winning streak to 14 games.
Sutton hit a solo shot in the first inning for a 1-0 lead and Twardoski added his solo home run in the fifth inning for the Chargers’ final run of the game.
Another key blow for the GHC offense was a two-run double by David Smith that broke a tie in the third inning and put the Chargers ahead to stay at 3-1.
Palmer Sapp and Twardoski both added RBI singles in the third as the Chargers built a 5-1 advantage.
Max Kops, Ben Olson, and Connor Todaro added one hit each in the win.
Georgia Highlands (27-3, 6-0 Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association) return to conference action Saturday in a doubleheader with Gordon State at LakePoint starting at 1 p.m.
