Chargers sweep doubleheader with East Georgia State, remain atop GCAA standings


Georgia Highlands baseball swept a conference doubleheader Tuesday afternoon over East Georgia State at LakePoint in Emerson winning 8-7 and 10-5.

Conner Perry (4 IP, 5ER, 5H, 3BB, 3K) made the start on the mound in the first game and picked up the win. Caleb Garner (4 IP, 2ER, 5H, 3K) worked four innings of middle relief and Zack Valentine (1 IP, 1BB, 1K) earned a save with a scoreless ninth.

Chargers’ pitcher Zack Valentine (1.2 IP, 1ER, 3H, 2K) earned the win in Game 2 in relief of starter Chase Townsend (3.1 IP, 4ER, 1H, 5BB, 6K). Matthew Silka (2 IP, 0R, 3H, 1BB, 1K) closed out the final two frames on the mound for GHC.

Trenton Parker had four hits in the doubleheader including a home run, a double, and four RBIs. Palmer Sapp also had four hits including a pair of doubles, one RBI, and two stolen bases. Brandon Prince contributed three doubles with four RBIs in the twin bill. Connor Todaro also added three hits and finished the doubleheader with five RBIs.

East Georgia State slips to 22-13 overall and 7-7 in the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association. Georgia Highlands (32-6, 11-3) travels to East Georgia Saturday for a doubleheader starting at 12 noon.
