Chargers take two from Point University
Georgia Highlands swept a doubleheader Monday with visiting Point University. The Chargers won the opener 13-9 and blanked the Skyhawks 10-0 in the second game.
Hudson Sapp and Jay Murdock had three hits each in the first game. Sapp also had a walk and two RBIs. Murdock’s hits included a double and one RBI. Zayd Brannigan finished with two hits including a double and three RBIs. Austin Slate also had a two-hit game.
Game 1 starter Bryce Clark worked four innings to collect his second win of the year. He struck out four. Ryan Well (1 IP, 4R, 3ER, 2BB, 2K) and Cason Rich (2 IP, 3ER, 5H, 6K) pitched in relief for the Chargers.
In Game 2, Oliver Wood (5 IP, 0R, 1H, 2K) and Davis Mortland (1 IP, 0R, 0H, 1K) combined to blank Point.
Barrett Eldridge led the Chargers’ offense with four hits. Sapp finished with two hits and three RBIs. Parker Poteet (RBI), Trevor Lovett, Conner Faulkner (2 RBIs), Trippe Moore (RBI), and Cole Turner (RBI) added one hit each.
Georgia Highlands (8-1) hosts Cleveland State CC Tuesday prior to a three-game series with Wabash Valley College Friday and Saturday at Rome’s Advent Health Stadium.
