Chargers take two of three with Pirates

Georgia Highlands College baseball won two of three games in a weekend home series with Chattahoochee Valley CC (AL). The visiting Pirates won the series opener on Friday, 11-5, but the Chargers swept the two games on Saturday, 18-0 and 11-1.


Kaiden Krak was the Chargers’ winning pitcher in the first game on Saturday. He tossed a five-inning shutout, scattering six hits and two walks. Matthew Perkins (4.1 IP, 1ER, 6H, 0BB, 6K) collected the second pitching win on Saturday by working into the fifth inning. Wyatt Gatlin struck out one and closed out the final game in the series.


In Friday’s GHC loss, starter Noah McMahon (4 IP, 6ER, 5H, 2BB, 3K) took the pitching loss. Heath Whitlock and Marshall Flowers combined to strike out three in the final 3-⅓ shutout innings.


Hayden Miller (two home runs, six RBI), Carson Page (double, two RBI), Caden Marcos (two doubles, three RBI), and Harper Davenport (sac fly, three RBI) each produced four hits in the three-game series. Aidan Larkin (RBI) and Andrew Bishop (home run, double, four RBI) had three hits. Gatlin (home run, four RBI) added two hits in the series.


Chatthoochee Valley slipped to 8-8 on the season.


The Chargers (20-7) begin conference play in the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association on Tuesday at home against South Georgia State. GHC hosts Andrew College for a doubleheader on Saturday.
