Chargers win 4-2 to open series with ABAC


GHC head coach Dash O'Neill has the Chargers 36-3 overall and 12-1 in the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association following Tuesday's win over ABAC.

David Smith homered in the sixth inning Tuesday to tie Georgia Highlands’ game with Abraham Baldwin 1-1 then added an RBI single in the seventh inning for a 2-2 tie.


The Chargers then added two more seventh inning runs on a Ben Olson single and a Parker Poteet sacrifice fly on their way to a 4-2 win over the Stallions.


Max Kops, Mick Moody, Zayd Brannigan, and Ethan Anderson also had base hits for Georgia Highlands in the win.


The Chargers utilized six pitchers to secure the conference win including Baylor Akin (4 IP, 1ER, 6H, 1BB, 4K), Caleb Garner (2 IP, 1ER, 2H, 1K), Cason Rich (0.1 IP, 0R, 1BB, 1K), Keegan Pulford-Thorpe (1 IP, 0R, 1BB), Ryan Suppa (0.2 IP, 0R, 1K), and Chandler Wood (1 IP, 0R, 1H, 1K).


ABAC (22-18, 7-6 GCAA) and Georgia Highlands (36-3, 12-1) will continue their week-long series Friday night in Tifton with a single game followed by a Saturday doubleheader.
