Chargers win at East Georgia State

Georgia Highlands College baseball won the opening game of their series with East Georgia State on Tuesday, 12-3, in Swainsboro.
The Chargers broke open a 1-1 game in the third inning with a six-run outburst that sent ten men to the plate. GHC led 8-1 through four frames and added four insurance runs across the sixth through eighth innings to put the game away.
Gavin Webster (4.2 IP, 3ER, 7H, 2BB, 4K) started on the mound for Georgia Highlands and earned the pitching victory. William Homan (1.1 IP, 0R, 0H, 2K), Nickolaus Kane (1 IP, 0R, 1H), Garrett Goblish (1 IP, 0R, 0H), and Pedro Luciano (1 IP, 0R, 0H, 2BB, 1K) also pitched for the Chargers.

Kenskey Thomas (solo home run) and Ryan Martin (double) led the GHC offense with three hits. Andrew Bishop (sac fly, two RBI), Heath Whitlock (double, RBI), and Ian Fullerton produced two hits. Tyler Phillips (double, two RBI), Wyatt Gatlin (solo home run), and Grayson Godbee (RBI) added one hit. Caden Marcos had one RBI.
Georgia Highlands (35-9, 14-6 GCAA) hosts the next three games with the Bobcats (22-22, 8-11) — a single game on Friday at 3 p.m. and a doubleheader on Saturday at 1 p.m.
The Chargers have a four-game lead over Gordon College in the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association standings, with eight conference games remaining in the regular season.
