Chargers win second straight with Andrew College

Georgia Highlands baseball scored six runs in the bottom of the second inning Thursday afternoon and added on each inning after as the Chargers cruised to a 15-4 home win over Andrew College.
The Chargers have now won the first two games in this week’s four-game series with the Tigers which is scheduled to continue Friday with a home doubleheader.
GHC starting pitcher Oliver Wood tossed a seven-inning complete game Thursday to earn the win on the mound. He scattered eight hits with no walks, allowing four earned runs. He struck out six.
Ryan Wideman and CJ Blackwell led the Chargers’ offense with three hits each. Wideman’s day included a triple and four RBIs. Blackwell’s efforts included a solo home run and two RBIs. Jay Murdock (three RBIs), Hudson Sapp (two RBIs), and Nic Ferrer produced a pair of hits each. Connor Faulkner had a solo home run and Parker Poteet added one other hit.
The loss drops Andrew to 24-17 on the season and 5-12 in conference play.
Georgia Highlands (28-17, 8-9) trails Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association leader South Georgia State by four games in the regular season conference standings with seven games to play.
The Chargers are currently in fourth place but only one game behind Gordon College and Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College who are tied for second.
The GCAA conference tournament will be hosted by Georgia Highlands May 8-10.
