Chargers win streak snapped by Wabash Valley College

After opening the 2022 season with 16 straight wins, the Georgia Highlands Chargers lost Friday to visiting Wabash Valley College (Illinois), 20-7. The game was hosted by GHC at Pickens High School in Jasper.

Georgia Highlands led 6-1 through three innings, but the Warriors scored 19 unanswered runs over the next five frames to run away with a win.

The Chargers sent five pitchers to the mound in the loss. They yielded 17 earned runs on 14 hits and ten walks while combining for seven strikeouts. The Warriors hit a pair of home runs.

Conner Todaro had three hits including a home run for Georgia Highlands. Zayd Brannigan and David Smith also homered in the loss.

Wabash Valley improved to 9-2 on the season and Georgia Highlands slipped to 16-1.

The two teams will continue their series Saturday with a doubleheader, also at Pickens High School.
