Colonels blank Wheeler on Senior Night
Cass pitchers Cayden Roberts and Chase Tatum combined Tuesday night on a three-hit, shutout as the Colonels blanked visiting Wheeler, 14-0, in five innings.
The win came on the evening the Colonels recognized their 2023 seniors -- Wesley Collins, Todd Gaddy, and Carson Hill.
Roberts (3 IP, 0R, 1H, 1BB, 5K) picked up the pitching win with a three-inning start. Tatum (2 IP, 0R, 2H, 0BB, 3K) closed out the final two frames.
Cass scored seven runs in the bottom of the first inning and tacked on seven more runs over the next two innings.
Jesiel Moctezuma finished with a pair of hits including a double and four RBIs. Carson Hill had two hits including a double and one RBI. Tatum contributed one hit. Connor Jenkins, Wesley Collins, and Devan Hutchinson were credited with one RBI each.
The loss dropped the Wildcats to 1-10 on the season.
Cass (4-5) travels to Central-Carroll Wednesday afternoon. The game, which was originally scheduled for Thursday, was moved up a day due to impending weather.
