Colonels drop fourth straight
The South Paulding Spartans posted runs in each of the first four frames and built an early 7-0 lead Thursday night on their way to a 7-2 win at Cass. A pair of South Paulding pitchers — Justin England and Bryce Folsom — combined to limit the Colonels’ offense to only three hits and a pair of fourth inning runs.
The Cass defense committed four errors and allowed four unearned runs. The Colonels’ pitchers issued seven walks.
Jayden Smith (4 IP, 7R, 3ER, 8H, 3BB, 3K) started on the mound for Cass and took the pitching loss. Trey Scott (2 IP, 0R, 0H, 3BB, 5K) and Thomas botts (1 IP, 0R, 0H, 1BB) pitched in relief.
Lawson Folds and Tyler Chatham combined for four hits and three RBIs to lead the Spartans offense.
Bentley Markley, Aidan Larkin, and Alex Freeman had one hit each for the Colonels.
South Paulding improved to 7-2.
Cass (1-6) travels to Northwest Whitfield Saturday for a non-region doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.
