Colonels, Lady Colonels halt Raiders

The Cass girls and boys basketball teams earned non-region, road victories Tuesday night at Southeast Whitfield.

The Lady Colonels won 55-25 while the Colonels topped the Raiders 73-64.

CASS GIRLS 55, SOUTHEAST WHITFIELD 25

Kiana McDaniel scored 14 points, grabbed six rebounds, made eight steals, and distributed four assists to lead the Cass girls to their sixth win of the season Tuesday night at Southeast Whitfield.


KK Evans scored 10 points and collected eight rebounds for the Lady Colonels. Olivia Woods contributed nine points and had five assists. Mikaela Jackson and Nevaeh Woods finished with eight points and four steals each. Darianna Sosa and Sadie Paez added three points apiece for Cass.

The Lady Raiders dipped to 2-5 on the season with their loss.


Cass (6-1) begins play in the SMI Holiday Tournament Thursday at 4 p.m. against East Paulding at Central-Carroll High School.


CASS BOYS 73, SOUTHEAST WHITFIELD 64


The Cass boys surged for 33 points in the fourth quarter Tuesday night for a come-from-behind 73-64 win at Southeast Whitfield.


The host Raiders led 19-16 after the opening eight minutes and held a 33-26 lead at halftime. The Colonels narrowed the margin to 43-40 heading into the fourth quarter before outscoring Southeast 33-21 in the fourth quarter for a nine-point win.


Cal Rich scored a game-high 23 points to lead the Raiders. Braden Miles added 16 for Southeast.


Jelani Hames scored nine of his 15 points in the fourth quarter to help the Colonels to the win. Sacovie White finished with 13 points. KJ Robert and Isaiah Ford followed with 11 points each. Jayden Foster scored eight. Jake Baldwin contributed six points. Devin Henderson, Tom Brannon, and Kevin Henderson added three points each for Cass.

Cass (5-5) takes a Christmas break before opening the Dalton-Christian Heritage Holiday Tournament on December 28 against Walker Valley (Tennessee).
