Colonels, Lady Colonels win at Clarkston

The Cass girls and boys basketball teams won non-region games at Clarkston in DeKalb County Saturday night.

The Colonels defeated the Angoras 67-58 and the Lady Colonels cruised to a 76-12 win.

CASS BOYS 67, CLARKSTON 58


Jayden Foster shared Cass scoring honors with Devin Henderson Saturday in the Colonels' win at Clarkston. Foster and Henderson scored 14 points each.

The Cass boys won for the first time this season on the road Saturday night and picked up their fourth win in their last five games with a 67-58 win at Clarkston.


Cass led a close game at each quarter stop and held on in the fourth quarter for a nine-point win over the Angoras.

The Colonels held slim leads of 12-11 and 21-19 at the end of the first quarter and at halftime. By outscoring Clarkston 24-15 in the third quarter, Cass extended its lead to 45-36.


Jayden Foster and Devin Henderson led the Colonels’ scoring attack with 14 points each. Jelani Hames followed with 12. Kevin Henderson, KJ Rogers, and Taymon McKibbins scored six points each. Isaiah Ford added five.


The loss dropped Clarkston to 2-9 on the season.

Cass (4-5) plays at Southeast Whitfield Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.


CASS GIRLS 76, CLARKSTON 12


Olivia Woods scored 25 points in the Lady Colonels win Saturday at Clarkston.

The Cass Lady Colonels overpowered Clarkston Saturday night, 76-12, for a non-region victory in DeKalb County.


Cass led 10-6 at the end of the opening period but then held the host Angoras to only two points over the next 16 minutes to build a 52-8 lead after three quarters.


Olivia Woods led the Lady Colonels’ scoring column with 25 points. She added six steals. Kiana McDaniel finished with 12 points and 10 steals for a double-double. Nevaeh Woods scored eight points and grabbed nine rebounds. KK Evans also scored eight points with 10 rebounds and eight steals. Mikaela Jackson contributed seven points and four steals. Cadie Paez and Reese Howard scored six each. Darianna Sosa and Kaitlyn Godwin added two points apiece.


The loss drops Clarkston to 1-4 on the season.


The Cass girls (5-1) play at Southeast Whitfield Tuesday night at 6 p.m. and will play three games, Thursday through Saturday, at the Carrollton SMI Christmas Tournament.
