Colonels open soccer season with win over Dragons

Camden Hillhouse scored a goal and had two assists in the Colonels' 5-0 win over Pickens.

The Cass boys’ soccer team opened its 2023 regular season Tuesday night with a 5-0 win over the Pickens Dragons.

Camden Hillhouse scored a goal and had two assists to lead Cass.

Christian Villela scored the Colonels’ opening goal at the 15-minute mark with a nice upper-90 finish of an assist from Hillhouse. Villela then gave Cass a 2-0 lead five minutes later off an assist from Alex Hernandez.

At the 30-minute mark, Hillhouse found the back of the net unassisted to give the Colonels a 3-0 advantage at the intermission.

Alex Hernandez scored the fourth Cass goal on a penalty kick in the 60th minute and freshman Mason Madrid added the Colonels’ final tally on another Hillhouse assist.

Cass (1-0) hosts Villa Rica Friday night at 7:30 p.m.
