Colonels wrap up three-game sweep of Hiram

The Cass Colonels’ offense rolled up nine runs early Monday night at home, then held on over the final four innings for a 9-4 win that completed a three-game region series sweep of Hiram.


Cass starting pitcher Jayden Smith earned the pitching victory with five innings of work. He allowed three runs (two earned) on two hits and three walks while striking out ten. Chase Botts (1 IP, 0R, 1H, 3K) and Aidan Cottingim (1 IP, 1ER, 2H, 2K) worked one inning each to close out the Colonels’ win.

Carson Hill hit a three-run home run and Jayden Smith tossed five strong innings as the Colonels completed a three-game sweep of Hiram Monday night.

Carson Hill hit a three-run home run in the home half of the first inning to start the scoring for Cass. Nic Wallin had two hits including a double and three RBIs. Bentley Markley contributed two hits including a double and one RBI. Matt Ballas also had a pair of hits. Matt Shook drove in two runs with a double and Jordan Gani added one hit as the Colonels collected nine total hits.


The loss drops Hiram to 2-11 overall and 0-6 in Region 7-AAAAA.


Cass (6-9, 5-1) opens a three-game region series with Blessed Trinity Tuesday in Roswell and the Colonels will host the 2nd-ranked Titans Friday.
