Davis eclipses 1,000 points in career; Lady Colonels beat Wheeler, 74-32
Cass junior Claire Davis scored 13 points and eclipsed the 1,000 career points mark in the third quarter as the Lady Colonels, ranked No. 4 in Class AAAAA, beat visiting Wheeler Tuesday night, 74-32. Haley Johnson led the Cass scoring attack with 14 points. Londaisha Smith followed with 12.
The Lady Colonels led 28-5 after one quarter and were up 39-15 at halftime. Cass led Wheeler 66-18 after three quarters. Rounding out the Cass scoring were Mikaela Jackson with eight points; Keara McDaniel with seven; Makyera Baldwin scored six; Zion Hayes posted four points; Ariana Hames and Justice Bennet contributed three each, while Gracie Elkins and Tatianna Christian added two points apiece.
Kailyn Fields led the visiting Lady Wildcats (2-5) with nine points.
Cass (6-0) plays next in the SMI Carrollton Christmas Tournament that begins Friday when the Lady Colonels square off with Mt. Zion-Carroll in a 4 p.m. start at Central-Carroll High School. The bracket play tournament continues Saturday at Temple High School and Monday at Villa Rica.
