Donegan's hat-trick leads Lady Canes to victory

Kalyn Donegan scored three goals in the first half of the Lady Canes win Thursday night at Woodland.

The Cartersville girls soccer team blanked Woodland Thursday night, 5-0, in a non-region matchup at Woodland High School.

Kalyn Donegan had a first-half, hat-trick to put the Lady Canes up 3-0 at halftime. Devondria Johnson and Micah Vance assisted on the second and third goals for Donegan. Her opening goal came unassisted. Johnson added a goal on a free kick from about 35 yards out in the second half and Gracie Borkowsky found the back of the net off an assist from Kendyl Anderson to round out the Cartersville scoring.

“The girls played well,” said Lady Canes coach Chad Murray. “We controlled the ball most of the night and had plenty of scoring opportunities. The girls are doing what we ask of them. When we combine maximum effort, good shape and making the simple, smart play, we will be a tough out.” The Cartersville girls (2-0) play at Rome next Tuesday.
