Eagles fail to hold early lead in loss at Johnson Ferry Christian Academy

The Excel Christian Academy Eagles took a 3-0 lead early on Monday at Johnson Ferry Christian, but the host Saints scored in every inning except the fourth to win 9-6.
Johnson Ferry scored two runs in the bottom of the first to narrow Excel’s lead to 3-2. The Saints then took the lead in the second inning with three more runs. They extended their lead to 6-3 in the third inning with one more run. Excel scored twice in the fourth inning to make the score 6-5 but the Saints outscored the Eagles 3-1 down the stretch to secure the win.
Jayden Jinks had two hits with one RBI and walked twice scoring two runs to pace the Eagles’ offense. David Jinks (double, RBI), Kamarion Profit (RBI), Jacob Jinks (RBI), Jacob Childers, and Cameron Adams added one hit. McKaden Gentry drove in one run.
Jayden Winston (1.1 IP, 5ER, 2H, 5BB, 2K) made the pitching start for Excel and took the loss. Adams (4.2 IP, 4R, 1ER, 7H, 2BB, 4K) pitched the final 4-⅔ innings.
Johnson Ferry improved to 4-5 on the season.
ECA (2-4, 2-2) hosts Cornerstone Prep Academy on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
