Eagles lose lead late Saturday night at The Weber School


Jacob Taylor scored 11 points in the Eagles' 52-49 loss Saturday at The Weber School.

The Excel Christian Academy boys basketball team built double-digit leads on several occasions Saturday night at The Weber School in Atlanta, but the Eagles offense went cold late and lost a non-region game to the host Rams, 52-49.

The Eagles led 16-8 after one quarter; 28-24 at the intermission; and 39-34 heading into the decisive fourth quarter.

Caleb Ouanounov and Jackson Nozick led The Weber School with 19 and 13 points, respectively.

Elijah Payne led Excel with 19 points. Jakaden Barkley followed with 12. Jacob Taylor scored 11 and Trey Webb chipped in three points for the Eagles.

Weber improved to 7-10 on the season with their win.

ECA (10-11, 1-6 in Region 7-A-Private) returns to region play Tuesday night at home against Walker in a 7:30 p.m. tip.
