Early lead lifts Dalton past Cass

Three runs early and three runs late were enough to lift the Dalton Catamounts past the visiting Cass Colonels Monday night, 6-1.

Dalton took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning and added insurance with three runs in the sixth to secure the win.

Cass scored a run in the top of the second on a Todd Gaddy RBI single to narrow the margin to 3-1 at the time.

Starting pitcher Carson Hill (5 IP, 3R, 0ER, 4H, 2BB, 4K) was tagged with the pitching loss despite not allowing an earned run. He struck out four. Chase Botts (0.1 IP, 3ER, 3H, 2BB) and Devan Hutchinson (0.2 IP, 0R, 1H) both pitched in relief for the Colonels.

Cayden Roberts had two hits for Cass. Chase Botts and Andrew Middleton also added base hits.

The Catamounts improved to 5-2 with their win.

Cass (1-9) host Adairsville Thursday and Sonoraville Friday. Both games are scheduled for 5:30 p.m. starts.
