Excel baseball falls in GAPPS state tourney opening round

The Excel Christian Academy baseball team lost both games of a doubleheader Friday at Vidalia Heritage Academy. The losses eliminated ECA from the eight-team GAPPS Class A state playoffs in the first round.

Vidalia Heritage swept the best-of-three series with two shutout wins — 5-0 and 17-0.

Excel Christian managed just four hits in the doubleheader.

In the series' first game, Cameron Adams, Gavin Dyson (double), and McKaden Gentry had hits for ECA. Adams had the only hit for the locals in the second game. 

Vidalia Heritage advances to play Horizon Christian Academy in the semifinals.

Excel has its season end with a 6-9 record.
