Excel Christian Academy boys reach region finals

The Excel Christian Academy Eagles routed their way into the GAPPS Region 1-IA championship game by pounding The Stonehaven School in Thursday night’s semifinals, 89-38.

Excel raced to a 33-7 lead in the first quarter and was never threatened. They led 56-18 at halftime.

David Jinks led four Eagles in double-figure scoring with 20 points. Carlos Cartagena finished with 16. Carter May contributed 14 points and Zion Green added 12 in the victory.

David Galloway led The Stonehaven School with 11 points.

Excel (9-17) advances to Friday night’s championship game against Unity Christian. The 6:30 p.m. start is hosted at Praise Academy in Powder Springs.
