Excel Christian boys fall at Cherokee Christian

A fourth-quarter rally that saw Cherokee Christian outscore the visiting Excel Christian Academy boys 26-7 resulted in a 63-56 win for the host Warriors on Monday night.

Excel led 14-10 after one quarter; 32-28 at halftime; and 49-37 through three quarters before Cherokee Christian stormed back in the final period.

Rutherford Nease and James Nease led the Warriors with 27 and 19 points, respectively.

David Jinks and Carlos Cartagena led the Eagles with 17 points each.

Cherokee Christian improved to 9-5 with the victory.

Excel (3-14, 2-0) plays at Lyndon Academy on Thursday and hosts Oakwood Christian on Friday.
