Excel Christian volleyball team christens new gym with season-opening win

The Excel Christian Academy volleyball team opened the 2024 season with a five-set victory on Monday night over Hearts Academy of Cobb County.

The event was the first-ever in the new gymnasium at the Emerson campus.

The Lady Eagles lost the first and third sets 20-25 and 22-25, but won the second, fourth, and fifth sets 25-23, 25-17, and 15-12.

Excel (1-0) hosts Covenant Christian School on Tuesday at 6 p.m. before traveling to Cherokee Christian on Thursday for a 6:15 p.m. start.
