Final GHSA classification assignments: Adairsville back to AAA, other local schools in AAAA

November 8, 2023

Following Tuesday's GHSA Reclassification meeting by the Georgia High School Association in Thomaston, Adairsville was moved from the smallest school in Class 4A to one of the larger schools in Class AAA for the 2024-26 cycle.

Adairsville had been placed in Class 4A in the original listing. Still, after a number of schools across the state decided to play up in classification, Adairsville was moved back down into Class AAA.

Cass, Cartersville, and Woodland will all remain in Class 4A and will likely be assigned to the same region once the geographic placements are completed.

Other schools likely to be considered for the local 4A region include Kell, Hiram, Southeast Whitfield, Cedartown, and Central-Carroll.

A region placement for Adairsville could possibly include any combination of Calhoun, Ridgeland, LaFayette, Heritage-Catoosa, Pickens, Sandy Creek, Gilmer, and Northwest Whitfield.
