Four-run fifth, Parr's pitching performance lifts Tigers at Gilmer

The Adairsville Tigers took a 2-0 lead in their three-game series this week against the Gilmer Bobcats by winning Thursday in Ellijay, 5-2.


Gilmer led 1-0 through the first four innings, but Adairsville scored four times in the top of the fifth inning to take the lead for good. The Bobcats added a run in the sixth, and the Tigers scored an insurance run in the top of the seventh.


Hudson Parr collected the pitching victory for Adairsville with a seven-inning, complete-game performance. He allowed two earned runs on three hits and five walks while striking out seven.


Brody Varner and Westin Barfield each had one hit and two RBI for the Tigers. Tyler Parker (double) and Harrison Cole had the other Adairsville base hits.


Adairsville (11-4, 3-2 Region 7-AAA) hosts the series finale with Gilmer (5-8, 1-4) on Friday at 5:30 p.m.
