Generals take rubber game of series with Adairsville

The Heritage-Catoosa Generals won the rubber game of a hard-fought Region 7-AAA series with the Adairsville Tigers on Thursday night, 8-7, in eight innings.


The region foes split the first two games of the three-game series on Tuesday and Wednesday. The Generals won 6-2 in Ringgold, and the Tigers won 1-0 at Adairsville. Thursday’s game saw four lead changes, but the Generals scored three unanswered runs across the seventh and eighth innings to escape with the win.


Four pitchers worked for Adairsville in the loss, including starter Hudson Parr (5 IP, 5ER, 7H, 2BB, 7K), Evan Hardin (1 IP, 2ER, 0H, 3BB), Tyler Parker (0.0 IP, 0R, 1H, 1BB), and Westin Barfield (1.1 IP, 1R, 0ER, 0H, 2BB, 3K).


Harrison Cole (home run, three RBI) and Barfield had two hits for the Tigers. Matthew Cook (RBI), Kaden Coker (RBI), Haydin Miller, Brody Varner, Hardin, and Parr each added one hit.


The Generals improved to 13-7 overall and 6-2 in Region 7-AAA.


Adairsville (16-6, 8-3) hosts Ringgold in a non-region game on Friday, April 3 at 5:30 p.m.
