Georgia Highlands baseball splits Saturday DH with Bobcats

Georgia Highlands College baseball split a doubleheader with East Georgia State on Saturday. The Chargers secured the series win with an 8-3 victory, but the Bobcats salvaged one win in the four-game series with a 19-15 victory.


Kaiden Krak (5.1 IP, 3ER, 12H, 0BB, 2K) was the winning pitcher for GHC. Hunter Ward struck out four of the five batters he faced in the sixth and seventh innings to close out the Chargers’ win.


Andrew Arnold (0.2 IP, 10ER, 6H, 3BB, 1K) made the pitching start for Georgia Highlands in the loss. Ethan Fuller (1.1 IP, 6ER, 5H, 3BB) and Wyatt Gatlin (5 IP, 3ER, 6H, 0BB, 4K) pitched in relief.


Andrew Bishop (home run, three RBI), Grayson Godbee (home run, three RBI), and Joe Johnson (RBI) had two hits in the Chargers’ victory. Kenskey Thomas (RBI), Heath Whitlock, and Caden Marcos added one hit.


Tyler Phillips (four doubles, four RBI) led the Chargers’ hitting attack in the GHC loss. Ian Fullerton (home run, two RBI) had three hits. Ryan Martin (home run, three RBI), Godbee (two solo home runs), and Thomas (double, RBI) contributed two hits. Ali Banks, Marcos, and Alex Karst added one hit.


The split left East Georgia with a 23-24 record. The Bobcats are 9-13 in the GCAA.


With four games remaining in the regular season, Georgia Highlands (36-9, 15-6) has a four-game lead over Gordon College in the conference standings.
