GHC softball drops conference doubleheader

The Georgia Highlands College softball team lost both games of a home doubleheader on Saturday to Georgia Military College. The Chargers fell 4-2 in extra innings and 3-0.


Grace Hendrick tossed a gem in the opening game for GHC but was saddled with a pitching loss. She worked all eight innings in the circle allowing four earned runs on seven hits and four walks. Hendrick struck out three.


Hayden Joyner’s pitching effort for the Chargers in a Game 2 loss was similar. Joyner worked all seven innings allowing three earned runs on nine hits and four walks. She recorded one strikeout.


Ally Graden was the top GHC hitter in the doubleheader with three hits. Haylee Dishmon (RBI), Aliza Martinez, Avrey Fisher (triple), Cayden Warren (RBI), and Joyner (double) had one hit on the day.


With their two wins on Saturday, Georgia Military remains in first place in the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association standings. The Lady Bulldogs are 21-13 overall and 12-2 in conference games.


Georgia Highlands (9-24, 6-8) is currently fifth in the seven-team conference. The Chargers have a doubleheader at East Georgia (2 p.m.) on Tuesday and will host Andrew College (1 p.m.) for two games on Friday.
