GHC softball drops final two games

Georgia Highlands softball lost both games of a doubleheader on Saturday in Cartersville to visiting Gordon State College. 


The Highlanders from Barnesville won 10-9 and 5-2 and secured the top seed in the upcoming conference championship tournament.


Ally Graden had four hits for the Chargers in the doubleheader. Avrey Fisher (home run, double, three RBIs) and Cayden Warren (two RBIs) had three hits on the day.


Jaycie Hand (4 IP, 10R, 1ER, 8H, 1BB, 4K) and Hayden Joyner (3 IP, 0R, 0H, 2BB, 4K) pitched in the opening game. Grace Kendrick (7 IP, 5R, 3ER, 4BB, 5K) pitched in Game 2 for GHC.


Gordon State (24-17, 19-5) will be the No. 1 seed in the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association Tournament May 2-3 hosted by Georgia Highlands College. The Highlanders will face East Georgia State in the opening game of the four-team, double-elimination bracket. Georgia Military College and ABAC will play in the other first-round game.


Georgia Highlands has its season end with a 14-33 record.
