GHC softball drops two at GMC

Georgia Highlands College softball lost both games of a doubleheader at Georgia Military College on Thursday, falling 9-1 and 8-0.
In Game 1, the host Bulldogs scored in all five offensive frames and outhit the Chargers ten to four.
Haley Curtis (2 IP, 4ER, 5H, 4BB) made the pitching start for GHC. Athens Hudson (2.2 IP, 5R, 2ER, 5H, 2BB, 2K) finished the game in the circle. Hudson also homered in the loss. Emmalee Freeman (double), CeCe Williams, and Anslee Logan contributed one hit.
In Game 2, GMC posted four runs in the first inning and added on across the fourth through sixth innings to win 8-0. Bulldogs’ pitcher Meredith Durden limited the Chargers to only four hits.
Williams started in the circle, but retired only one out in the first inning. She allowed four runs (three earned) on three hits. Emily Ferro (5 IP, 4R, 3ER, 9H, 2BB, 3K) pitched the remainder of the game for the Chargers.
Ahmani Green had a triple for the GHC offense. Ferro and Hudson each added one hit.
Georgia Military College improved to 25-14 overall and 10-2 in the GCAA. Georgia Highlands (15-2, 5-4) hosts a doubleheader with Gordon College on Saturday at 1 p.m.
