GHC softball extends win streak to seven
Georgia Highlands softball completed a five-game sweep of games played Friday through Sunday in Clermont, Florida at The Spring Games. Playing twice on Sunday, the Chargers beat Alpena CC (Mich.) 8-1 and blanked Cuyahoga CC (Ohio) 3-0. Earlier in the weekend, Georgia Highlands had wins over Delta CC (Mich.), Muskegon CC (Mich.), and Mercyhurst North East CC (Pa.) In the opener Sunday, Madalyn Morton tossed a complete-game four-hitter in a 9-1 Chargers’ win. She struck out 13. In the second game, Montana Ledbetter tossed a two-hit shutout and fanned six.
Haley Robinson had four hits including a pair of doubles in the win over Alpena. Taryn Hitchcock contributed three hits including a double and a triple. Alexis Davis had a double and two RBI. Lacey Rutledge doubled with one RBI. Natalia Herrera and Kyndal Brown both finished with one hit and one RBI each while Mallory Alford added a double and one RBI.
In the win over Cuyahoga, Allison Daffron finished with two hits including a home run and two RBI. Ansley Todd had a two-hit game and Hailey Cronic added a double. The Chargers (12-10) have now won seven straight as they prepare to host Motlow State CC and Louisburg CC Tuesday at Stars Field in Cassville. GHC will also entertain Wallace State - Hanceville in a doubleheader Thursday before traveling to East Georgia State Saturday to begin GCAA conference play.
