GHC softball moves above the .500 mark in conference play

The Georgia Highlands College softball team swept a home doubleheader with visiting Andrew College on Friday afternoon and has now won four straight games. The Chargers won the first game 11-0  in five innings and completed the sweep with a 6-2 victory in the second game. 


Georgia Highlands outhit the visiting Lady Tigers 19 to 6 in the two games. 


Grace Kendrick (4 IP, 0R, 1H, 3BB, 3K) made the pitching start and collected the win in the opening game for GHC. Hayden Joyner (5 IP, 1ER, 3H, 3BB, 2K) started in the circle and picked up the win in the second game. Jaycie Hand (3 IP, 1ER, 2H, 0BB, 3K) pitched in relief in both games for the Lady Chargers.


Chloe Fowler had five hits in the doubleheader including a double and three RBIs to lead the Georgia Highlands offense. Avrey Fisher had three hits including a homer and two RBIs and Cayden Warren also finished with three hits that included a pair of doubles.


Cailey Barnett (RBI), Kendrick (two RBIs), and Hannah Mounce finished with two hits. Ally Graden contributed a double and two RBIs while Haylee Dishmon added a double, three RBIs, and stole four bases. Joyner and Ansley Farmer both pitched in with one RBI each.


Andrew falls to 5-34 for the season and 2-12 in Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association play. Georgia Highlands, now third in the conference standings, improved to 13-24 overall and 10-8 in the GCAA. 


Next for the Chargers is a home doubleheader with conference-leading ABAC on Wednesday.
