GHC softball splits DH at South Georgia State

The Georgia Highlands College softball team split a doubleheader on Sunday at South Georgia State. The Chargers lost the opener 11-4 but responded with a 9-3 win in Game 2.


Hayden Joyner led the Chargers in the doubleheader with five hits and four RBIs. She was also the winning pitcher in Game 2 going seven innings in the circle. She allowed two earned runs on four hits and a walk while striking out three.


Avrey Fisher had four hits. Ally Graden contributed four hits including two doubles and three RBIs.


Chloe Fowler had three hits in the two games. Aliza Martinez finished with two hits plus a sac fly RBI. Cailey Barnett hit a three-run homer. Ansley Farmer (RBI) and Haylee Dishmon (double, RBI) added one hit.


Jaycie Hand (6 IP, 11R, 6ER, 13H, 1BB, 5K) was charged with the pitching loss in Game 1.


GHC (7-20, 4-4 CGAA) plays two games at ABAC on Monday, hosts two with Chattanooga State CC on Tuesday, and plays two at Gordon State College on Thursday.
