GHC softball wins two of three with Bobcats

Georgia Highlands College softball won two of three games Friday and Saturday against visiting East Georgia State College. The Bobcats won the first game of Friday’s doubleheader 5-4, but the Chargers won the second game 6-1 and won on Saturday, 11-0.
In the GHC pitching circle, Emily Ferro (7 IP, 5R, 4ER, 8H, 3BB, 6K) suffered the loss in Game 1 on Friday. Haley Curtis (7 IP, 1ER, 8H, 3BB, 4K) collected the win in Game 2, and CeCe Williams (5 IP, 0R, 5H, 3BB, 4K) tossed a shutout to win the final game of the weekend.
Athens Hudson led the Chargers’ bats in the series with four hits, including two homers, one double, and three RBI. Emma Darrow (home run, double, three RBI) and Anslee Logan (one RBI) followed with three hits. Emmalee Freeman had two hits in the series, including one home run, one triple, and five RBI.
Ahmani Green contributed a two-run homer. Williams (double, two RBI), Ferro (RBI), Gracie Azpeitia, Mary Catherine Kimball, and Madelyn Johnson each added one hit during the series.
East Georgia finished the series with a 23-23 record overall. The Bobcats are 8-11 in Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association games.
Georgia Highlands (22-15, 11-6) welcomes South Georgia State College for a doubleheader at 2 p.m. on Tuesday.
