GHC sweeps Wednesday DH with Tennessee Wesleyan JV


Georgia Highlands baseball swept a doubleheader Wednesday at LakePoint by defeating the Tennessee Wesleyan JV 9-0 and 11-1. Pitchers Jacob Ryan (5 IP, 0R, 1H, 1BB, 10K), Hunter Moody (1 IP, 0R, 1H, 1K), and Mason List (1 IP, 0R, 1H, 3K) combined for the first game shutout. Max Kops doubled twice for the Chargers and drove in one run. David Smith also had two hits, including a triple, with one RBI. Gavin Harmon drove in a pair of runs. In the second win, GHC pitchers Chase Townsend (3 IP, 1ER, 3H, 2BB, 4K), Griffin Brown (1 IP, 0R, 1BB, 3K), and Ryan Smithson (1 IP, 0R, 0BB, 2K) limited Tennessee Wesleyan to only three hits and a single earned run. Trace Twardoski hit a first inning grand slam to set the tone for the Chargers. He finished with a pair of hits and five RBI. Kops had a pair of hits and a two-run home run and Mickey Maguire drove in a run with a pair of doubles. Colton Dalton hit a solo home run in the first inning for the only Tennessee Wesleyan run of the day. Georgia Highlands (5-0) will host a three-game series with Volunteer State CC Friday and Saturday at LakePoint. Friday’s doubleheader will start at 2 p.m. Game 3 is set for 1 p.m. Saturday.
