The Georgia High School Association has released the proposed geographic regions for the 2026-2028 reclassification cycle, with local schools remaining in similar positions.

Schools have until Sunday, November 16, at noon to request a transfer to another region within their currently assigned classification.

The appeal meetings will take place on Monday, November 17, in Thomaston.

In most cycles, schools have appealed, asking for lateral moves to adjacent geographical assignments.

The GHSA office proposal, released this past Monday, includes seven schools in Region 7-5A: Allatoona, Cartersville, Cass, Cedartown, Dalton, Villa Rica, and Woodland. Each of those schools, except Villa Rica, is currently in Region 7-4A.

In the GHSA Class 4A proposal for 2026-28, Adairsville is tabbed for a six-school Region 7-4A along with Calhoun, Heritage-Catoosa, Northwest Whitfield, Ridgeland, and Southeast Whitfield. All except Southeast Whitfield are currently in Region 7-3A.
