Hurricanes ride productive offense to beat Catamounts in series opener


Landon Cole was one of three Canes to have three hits Tuesday night in an 18-6 region win at Dalton.

The Class 5A No. 1-ranked Purple Hurricanes’ bats rattled off 20 hits Tuesday night at Dalton in an 18-6 Region 7-5A win.


Miles Owen (2 RBIs), Harrison Childers (double, 2 RBIs), and Landon Cole (RBI) had three hits each for Cartersville.


Luke Miller (two doubles, 3 RBIs) and Kaden Stephenson (double, 2 RBIs) finished with a pair of hits each.

Caleb Daniel (sac fly, RBI), Tristan McKibben (double, RBI), Isaac MaNair-Seigler (double, RBI), and Paul Gamble (2 RBIs) added one hit apiece for the Canes.


Caden Carroll (4 IP, 0R, 5H, 2BB, 9K) started on the mound for Cartersville and earned the pitching win. Nicholas Hruby (2 IP, 6R, 0ER, 4H, 0BB, 3K) worked middle relief and Jackson Harwell (1 IP, 0R, 0H, 0BB, 3K) struck out the side in the seventh.


Dalton (3-14, 1-6) continues this week’s three-game series with the Canes (15-2, 7-0) at Richard Bell Field on Thursday at 5:55 p.m. The final game of the series will be Friday at Dalton.
